libreoffice 3.4.2 and horizontal scrolling

Hi,

LibreOffice 3.4.2 (Build 203 from unstable repository) has a bug with the horizontal scrolling.
When you have a Calc document the slider for horizontal scrolling looks damaged and is not working.
When zooming in (or adding notes at the side of the document) in Writer, the damaged horizontal scrolling bar appears and is not working.

I also tried to submit a bug report, but I’am to stupid for it (I failed at “the named tags” and “to bugs”)

Michael

Addition:
I’am Opensuse 11.4. (nvidia with proprietary driver).
Same problem on other 11.4 installation with intel graphics and also with LibreOffice on Chakra Linux.
It seems to be a general LibreOffice problem and not depending on OpenSuse.

Michael

The problem is the LibreOffice KDE4 integration (also in older versions there have been sometimes KDE4 integration problems).
You have to delete libreoffice-kde4 and use the gnome integration. Then it should work.
There is also a KDE bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277453

For those who want to keep libreoffice-kde, there’s a workaround: if your mouse has a central button or button wheel, the horizontal scrollbar works.

I fixed this on my system (11.4_x86_64/KDE4.7.2)by changing:

System Settings-Application Appearance-Style-Widget Style to: GTK+ Style

But that has a global effect, with maybe unwanted effects in other apps?

Perhaps, but noting noted after about 3 weeks.

that works, but so does changing to the “cleanlooks” style, which i prefer
to GTK+. i suspect any style but oxygen works.

phani.

It works for the main text window but not for the horizontal scrollbar in the Navigator window…

Yes, have seen that. Of course I know this will be fixed upstream sooner or later but it’s still fun trying to find a workaround. Have tried the plain vanilla LibreOffice and find it too ugly: aesthetics matter when you tend to spend the whole working day in one app. It’s not even what I call a burning problem, with a 24in widescreen monitor there’s not all that much horizontal scrolling to do in word processing. I suppose there’s so few real problems with openSUSE 11.4 and KDE 4.7 that little glitches like that start to become really annoying. I want things perfect, and now >:)

i hear Steve Jobs was like that also…maybe should consider one of his
products…there will marginal increase in cost, but “fiddle with” time
will go down greatly and you can enjoy what little life there is even more.

Oi, that’s uncalled for…
I never complained about the fiddling, it was you who suggested waiting for a solution from upstream. I’ll call you iDD from now.

Still bad in 12.1 RC1 version which is build 1206 also. Was the patch added
to the 12.1 build?
