Libre Office?

Updated to LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m17 (Build:3) libreoffice-build 3.3.0.1, still no spell checker.

Tried installing LanguageTool-1.1.oxt and OpenOffice_org-Quickstarter 1.0-717.1 with no effect, so deleted.

After installing packages,

So libreoffice is not independent of openoffice yet.

Could not install from factory as libicuuc.so.44 needed but only libicuuc.so.42 provided.

interesting. i didn’t have to install from the OOo repo since these files
are included in oS factory’s OSS repo. didn’t notice that openOffice files
were still included.

phani.

Today, I also tried LibreOffice from the repository. It works really fine lol!.
A problem with nasty artefacts in Draw (http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=597345) was also solved. The open/save menues (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=616047) are working now when the KDE4 integration is used. Only the Bold, Italic icons are still in the old crystal design, also when using the oxygen icon set.
Furthermore, the Zotero integration is still working well (you have to reinstall the firefox plugin and change manually the folder for the plugin to “libreoffice” instead of “oo3”).

One thing what’s not working is the export of graphics in draw or impress as png, jpeg… Here, an error occured. This is independent of the installation of the “EnhancedGraphicExportDialogs” plugin.
Is somebody able to export graphics?

Michael

Hi Michael,

It looks as though exporting graphics in Draw to .png is now fixed. Worked ok for me today.

I’m using version 3.3.0.1-13.1 (LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m17 (Build:3) libreoffice-build 3.3.0.1) from update of 2010/12/06.

Michael

Hi Michael,

also with the latest update any graphics export is not working. Furthermore, the saving of odt textfiles as doc is not working. Afterwards the generated doc files are looking totally awful. This was not the case with OpenOffice. Were the doc filters in OpenOffice proprietary of Sun/Oracle?

Michael

Hi Michael,

Sorry he hear about the problems you are seeing but suggest you check the installed files.

I regularly share files with someone using M$Office 2000 and have not had any anomalies.

On the original libreOffice install I deleted all openOffice packages and then only re-installed a few for the spell checker.

My install is as follows,

Hello Michael,

thanks for your detailed answer :)!
Interestingly, I used the same versions (including the additional Openoffice packages).
I don’t know what’s going wrong.
The good thing is, it’s very easy to change between OpenOffice and LibreOffice ;).

Michael

Another idea was to delete the “.oo3” and “.libreoffice” folder to get a clean install without former settings. Unfortunately, this was also not working. But now, I got an error message when I loaded a doc file, which I had saved directly before: This is not a Word 97 document (translation from the german error message).

Michael

Hi,

Updated to latest LO today.

On first attempt to open a spreadsheet after update & reboot the following message appeared,

LibreOffice 3.3 - Fatal Error
The application cannot be sarted. com.sun.star.deployment.
DeploymentException: Start tag expected, '<' not found Line:1 Column:1

After subsequent reboots – no problem.

libreoffice - A Free Office Suite (Framework) 3.3.0.2-15.1
LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m18 (Build:4) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.2

At tip for those who have switched to Libre-Office

Open Software Management and search ‘OpenOffice’
Then from the top menu ‘Packages’ > all in this list >delete
Apply.

I have been using Libre-Office without problems, but I did this anyway. Yast found about a half dozen OO files and automatically installed (suggested) the Libre-Office replacements.

Just wondering if you tried the Libre Base? Seems to work EXCEPT for the DATE.
If you have an existing db with the date YYYY-mm-dd the year errors and Libre Base crashes.
I have been using MySQL for many years with OOffice which worked fine, now Libre needs work.

FYI …
