since you don’t mention a Linux experience level, if this post sounds
condescending: it only displays my ignorance of your cloaked super
powers…

maybe you want to compile the application (for experience, or as
classwork), but are you aware that most of the things that most folks
need are already compiled and easily installed by using YaST and the
repositories of openSUSE ready applications?

still not knowing your level of power: did you use YaST to install
development patterns like “Base Development” and “C/C++ Development”?

if you are still stuck you might tell us what application you want to
install on which version of openSUSE, and reveal your super power…

Hi ,

Thank you for your response. I am a beginner of course and new to Linux ! Apparently I had not re-booted after installing kernel -devel packages so the installation did not take effect I guess ! So all i had to do was reboot and I was able to build and install my app.

great job…
congratulations…

Have a lot of fun!
