I’ve got Lenovo Thinkpad W500 with two graphic cards - Intel 4500MHD and ATi FireGL V5700. So far i used Intel, and it work out of box. Everything runs smoothly, even when i connect TV and watch movie in HD + main screen in WUXGA also i do not use dedicated graphic card for my work. But then i wanted to play some games and Intel is simply too weak to run games on WUXGA with good fps. When i switched graphic card to discrete, computer failed to boot - screen went black and it wasn’t react even on tty1. On safe mode computer boots properly but i can’t pick proper resolution (i can choose betwen few 4:3 resolutions). Then i ran normal mode with nomodeset and it booted properly, but without 3D support and without resolution i needed. I didn’t tried propietary drivers cause i had very same computer working properly on discrete card year ago on openSUSE 13.1 out of box (i ran installer on discrete card), also ATI dropped support for such old cards. What can i do for make discrete card run properly?
