Lenovo ThinkPad T590 not charging

Hello everyone,

I have been running openSUSE Tumbleweed on my Lenovo T590 ThinkPad laptop for several weeks now. However, just tonight my laptop indicates that it is “not charging” and that the charge is indeed declining. I had the same issue on this same laptop when I had Ubuntu on it (before I installed Tumbleweed.) The solution there was to “remove built in battery,” but I am unsure as to if that would be wise or helpful at this point. If anyone has lines of codes that I could run in the terminal that they think may solve the problem, that would be even better.

Thank you for your help.

UPDATE: I seem to have solved the problem by going into the BIOS settings and selecting “Disable Built in Battery” in “CONFIG”; the battery icon in Gnome now says “estimating” but shows that it is charging and the battery fill is green instead of white. However, if one goes to “power settings” from the battery icon, it shows the charge (in my case, 98%.)
