I am running TW with KDE desktop on a ThinkPad T530 laptop which has a TrackPoint button. I have updated this machine and now have some problems. In particular:
When I use System Settings>Mouse & Touchpad>Touchpad I get the message “No touchpad found.”
What can I do to have this installed and running please?
Yes,
My first question failed to get to the point. I wrote it while still trying to understand the many changes which resulted from the Plasma 6 update. I decided to post a more accurate question. That is all.
Sorry if I created an issue.

Hi Dean,
I now have both laptops up, both updated and both have libinput-tools installed.
Neither have any devices listed:-
alastair@IBMT530:~> sudo libinput list devices
[sudo] password for root:
libinput: list is not installed
alastair@IBMT530:~>
I get this on both machines but am writing this on T530 which is the problem machine because the cursor movement is very erratic when I am trying to use the TouchPoint, my preferred entry device on the ThinkPads.
Both laptops seem to have the same configuration but for comparison I shall post the dmesg command results from the other laptop. I couldn’t spot any differences but will try again.

A bit of a puzzle but on the W530 the touchpad is shown in the settings but shown as disabled. That machine works just about OK in that I can use the TouchPoint without effort and the touchpad is there but not touch responsive
On the T530 the touchpad is not found and the TouchPoint device is too erratic to use because the touchpad , although “not found” is still sensitive and picks up some capacitative coupling from my palm when I am using the TouchPoint.
Can you see any differences between the two systems?
You may need to add a kernel boot parameter to get the touchpad properly recognized. This could take some experimentation. Refer to the Manjaro thread an idea on what to do here. There are other boot parameters that can be tried (as per the first page of the Ubuntu thread). What works will come down to your particular hardware implementation.
Hi Dean,
I had read these before posting. I confess I shrank form this when I read it; I try and keep away from kernel issues as well above my pay grade. That is why I posted here!
I shall have to do as you suggests and experiment a bit. I shall report back in due course. Fingers crossed.
Hi,
None of the grub options suggested worked for me.
I looked again at the xorg drivers installed and found that if I removed the Synaptics driver the touchpad could then be found. If I re-installed the Synaptics driver the touchpad was not found.
If I removed the Synaptics driver and installed the Synaptics-devel files I was able to achieve the same result using TouchPoint on both laptops. The problem T530 is now OK, I can see the touchpad settings and have them set with disabled when typing. This is how both are now configured. The touchpad does not work when not typing either but at least I can now use the TouchPoint as before.
