I am not sure why the last part is necessary. Yes, that will automatically find
the least congested channel; however, it makes it impossible for experienced
users in your neighborhood to set up their systems in an intelligent manner.
For the record, I have been using a Broadcom 14e4:4315 device for at least 5
years without ever once needing that wl driver, which taints your kernel. All
that is needed is to install the b43 firmware using ‘sudo
install_bcm43xx_firmware’. After that, driver b43 is fine.
