This laptop works well with openSUSE 13.1 and I am using the GNOME desktop. Wireless works fine.
UEFI is disabled in BIOS.
Happy to hear of your success and for telling us about the installation.
Thank You,
On my notebook lenovo B590 model 20206 WiFi (broadcom bcm 43132) doesn’t work. Suse 13.1.The last update doesn’t change anything. I’ve found driver in deb package and repacked in rpm, but it doesn’t work. Linux is not my strength.

Try installing the broadcom-wl package from the packman repo. it has
helped me in the past.
Ken
Thank you for your answer, but it doesn’t help. I’ll try to install SuSe one more time and start again, may be it will help.
Off top. I’m asking about ten computers, windows or SuSe? Help me, please.

Well, I’m biased toward linux and openSUSE in particular so I am
probably not the best person to ask. It all depends on what you need to
do with the PC and what linux programs fill that need.
Ken
Ken,
I would install the “b43-fwcutter” package located in the official release of openSUSE 13.1.
Install using zypper by opening “konsole” or “xterm”.
The commands are below:
- sudo zypper install b43-fwcutter
- sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware
You may have to restart your system.
Follow Up
b43-fwcutter - Tool for extracting firmware from newer Broadcom WLAN drivers |
---|
The package “b43-fwcutter” can be used to extract firmware from Windows WLAN drivers for Broadcom bcm43xx devices.
The firmware is necessary to run such a card under Linux using the b43 or b43legacy driver.
**Please also install: **
|b43-firmware - Firmware files for Broadcom bcm43xx series based PCI/PCMCIA cards
|
This package provides firmware files required by the b43 WiFi Linux driver|
Important:
Check in /etc/modprobe.d/ for some file that blacklists b43 and make sure that you uncomment the driver. Save your file changes and reboot your laptop.
Now that the uncommented driver will load during the boot process.

Why would I do this, I’m not the one with a problem. Try re-reading
posts again.
Ken
Thanks for the update.
Sorry Ken. I’ll just ping the OP.
