Lenovo 3000 N100 Kernel Panic on 11.1

I recently installed 11.1 and i continue to have kernel panics afte some minutes of use, i think this haas to be something with the Intel Wireless driver, because it happens most of the time when the wireless card is having some traffic.
Any ideas?

When you say a kernel panic, do you mean that the caps lock light is blinking at
1 Hz? If so, you should use CTRL/ALT/F10 to switch to the logging console before
the crash occurs and wait. That is the only way to see the crash.

Intel has fixed a lot of problems with their drivers. The latest can be found in
the compat-wireless package.

Yes, that is what i call a kernel panic, i will try to do that and post the resulsts here
thanks.

I’m also getting kernel panics with an intel wireless card on 11.1. The problems have persisted though a kernel upgrade.

The really interesting thing about it is it works fine at home on my wireless network (which uses WPA-PSK) but always freezes (kernel panic) at work, when using the network there (open-access network, http only with html login form - do you know what I mean?).

I have booted up with the debug kernel and done what you suggested above, but to be honest I wasn’t able to follow what the output was telling me (except that it involved dereferencing a null pointer). Lots of text scrolled by before I could read it and when kdb started up I couldn’t find anything useful in the backtrace.

Next time I’ll try to photograph the output, so I an look at it more closely / post it here.

Also the machine seems to work fine on the network with a Kubuntu live DVD.

Hey its almost exactly what it happens to me, it only crashes on my school, on my house everything works fine, i cant get the debug to work because the panics are very random, and i can’t provoque them. But im also starting to think its maybe my mouse, crazy theories but there’s no patron about the panics

Yeah i found the source of the crashin its really the mouse, i don’t know why, the mouse starting to fail i have to click harder and harder but i think this distro doesn’t manage well recieving and error from a mouse.
