I’ve been running Arch on most of my machines for some time, including several Raspberry Pi’s. There were two exceptions, one of which was rubbing Manjaro for a few reasons having to do with actually needing a 64bit os, while the Archlinux Arm port has usb issues unless you run Armv7.
Anyway, the SD card died in that board someone in the last couple days. It’s definitely done, can’t recover the data. I tried Arch again and had the same unresolved usb issues. I’m pretty happily running Opensuse Tumbleweed on one of my laptops, and I thought that I would try Opensuse on the Pi.
I prefer Tumbleweed, as I like a rolling release. But I’m hesitating a bit due to just losing an sd card. So I have a few questions. How does Leap compare to Tumbleweed or Arch in terms of how up to date it is, and can I expect pretty much the same rate of package updates on aarch64 as in x86_64 (I get quite a lot on the laptop). How stable is Tumbleweed on the Pi?
I use this board to run Gitea for my own local git server and a Gemini protocol server, so it’s pretty light usage. Not expecting fast desktop performance, in fact I expect to run it headless most of the time.

Yes similar update ratio for aarch64, albeit a little later (we post Forum notifications for ARM and x86_64 snapshots). Consider booting from a USB device rather than SD Card? I’m running Leap and SLES on my RPi3’s all with SD cards not much disk usage (two run Pihole [been through two release upgrades on same SD card], the others a gps time server). If worried about the SD card, then would suggest Leap, else try a USB device and Tumbleweed.
