1: When trying to connect to cloud server Filezilla complains.
Error: expected key exchange group packet from server
Error: Could not connect to server
I can ssh to server from command line. Opensuse 13.1 -had no problems.
2: Using Network setting manager (Not using wicked! ), I cant set 802.11 n WLAN… likely netwotk setting.
3: Firewall has no interfaces selected. Likely network problem.
Gnome or KDE?
If your network device is active and basically working, you should use the desktop network manager to manage connections, though it is possible to set it up from Yast, that’s really not idea for a portable device
General rule-of-thumb for machines connected to non-commercial LANs/WLANs (i.e. private home users): assuming that, a DSL Router or similar is used to connect to the ISP, set the Firewall selection of each Linux machine’s LAN/WLAN interface to “Internal Zone (unprotected)”.
- Assumes that the DSL Router uses NAT to translate the IP address assigned by the ISP to the private IP addresses within the “home” LAN/WLAN.
- For the WLAN case there is an issue which AFIK is currently not resolvable: it is not possible to assign Firewall Zones to specific WLAN SSIDs.

For the case of KDE Desktop GUIs (no idea for the GNOME case – I’m an unashamed KDE user), I strongly recommend the use of the standard KDE application Dolphin for everything to do with moving and using files.
- Dolphin supports: file, fish, ftp, nfs, sftp, webdav, bluetooth, MTP devices, samba (Windows) protocols, plus other machine locations.
Bottom line: if a KDE Desktop, use Dolphin for everything which smells like a file regardless of that file’s location on planet Earth or elsewhere in the Universe.P.S.: Dolphin interacts with KWallet: therefore there are no network authentication issues.
On Xfce, using Network Manager – just updated them.
Any help here?
Neither a FileZilla nor a PuTTY user, just a simple KDE user (as mentioned below), but:
- FileZilla is not available from the default Leap 42.1 repositories – only from the “network” repository – it’s only in the default Tumbleweed and 13.2 repositories.
- FileZilla uses PuTTY for “SFTP using SSH2: Key based authentication”: <https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Howto>
- PuTTY is available from the default Leap 42.1 repositories.

A stupid and dumb question: have you installed the “putty” (GTK) package? Please note that, “qputty” (a Qt4 port of the “putty” package) is available from the Packman repositories.
Thanks for Advice on Filezilla reloaded from repo-- and works now.
any help on networking issues…
