Whats happening?
OK I downloaded the leap 42 DVD from Opensuse and burnt it to a DVD perfectly.
Installed with no problems perfect.
Now in desktop when i refresh the screen or do anything that loads something it freezes and my keyboard turns off with the mouse still on.
What could be the problem? I reinstalled and the same thing.
Can it be my hardware? Due to Opensuse Leap 42 being a 64 bit infrastructure?
CPU - Intel Core i3-2100
Video card - Nvidia 550 Ti GTX
Ram - 4.00 GB
And
I’m dual booting Windows 10 32 bit.
I managed to get on Yast to update the my videocard drivers with nvidia and unintsall nouvea in ICE because Plasma 5 will freeze my desktop.
When i restarted it gave me the error No discrete VGA device found.
Running the commands
zypper ar -f ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.1/ nvidia
zypper ref
zypper in x11-video-nvidiaG03
will time out.
init 5 wouldnt work and now im stuck with no GUI
Booting with the “e” option nomodeset and nomodeset x11failsafe would’nt work either.
?
You don’t need to uninstall nouveau, installing the nvidia driver adds a blacklist
Boot to level 3 and login, then become su -
You will need to be hardwired to the internet
Now at the prompt type: yast
Here you can manage your software in software management - view by repos and make sure all the required nvidia packages are installed

you really should not have removed nouveau
You are describing 2 issues, do you have internet access can you get here ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.1/
if not check your internet, ask in the networking forum.
After that I got this output

Update bootloader…
There are some running programs that might use files deleted by recent upgrade. You may wish to check and restart some of them. Run ‘zypper ps -s’ to list these programs.
Those are repositories. Check the proprietary driver with
nvidia-settings -v

This happened to me once on Gnome, I was just opening Yast software management. I wasn’t able to open the terminal and had to do a hard reboot.
However I hadn’t yet updated my system, doing it just now.
Hi, I have a machine with a single Operating System which I have upgraded to Leap 42.1 openSUSE whereby my issues began and continue. I have a similar issue at startup where the desktop background appears but displays no program icons, just the KWallet login dialogue for password appears but the keyboard does not work and the flashing cursor sits but not bouncing like normal. The mouse works but the system is hung.
No system keys work and it requires a hard reboot to get anywhere.
Removing and reinstalling KWallet does not fix the issue.
My crazy workaround is to continually & alternately fast tap the ‘TAB’ and ‘ENTER’ keys just before everything freezes as soon as the desktop screen starts to display and it goes through the start-up script and everything is fine.
If anyone can explain this anomaly, I would be most grateful as it is just annoying period at starting.
