Leap 42.3 kernel 4.4.180 boot stops with a black screen

Hi,

I installed Leap 42.3 on my Asus 1215B (AMD E-450 with HD6320).
The install is working with kernel 4.4.76

after a “zypper up”, the kernel 4.4.180 is installed. With this kernel my laptop ends up with a black screen. Swithing to a console does not work (ctrl-alt-F1).

Any ideas?

Is there a boot log? I can’t find any /var/log/messages

I tried with kernels:
4.4.76 -> boots OK
4.4.126 -> boots OK
4.4.159??? -> boots OK (not completely sure about the version anymore)

I just select a different kernel in GRUB2

It’s a fresh network install from a USB stick.

Since 42.3 has reached its end-of-life, don’t expect too much.

You should be able to remove the kernel that isn’t working, so that then it will default to booting to the working kernel. You can use Yast Software Management for that. Search for “kernel” and use the “Versions” tab to find the kernel version that you want to remove.
