Gentlemen / Ladies : Browsing in FF, seemed like the hardware froze - I was trying to find out why the keyboard and mouse were not responding, when the video changed to a text screen, with the following: A start job is running for Purge old kernels ( 26s / no limit) The hard disk led is blinking randomly, approx 90% on. So I let things continue, but it’s been approx 5 hours now, and no resolution / completion. The OS is not hung - I can get into the ctrl-alt F1 console and log in as root, and shift back and forth between F1 & F7, where the Purge is continuing. Any advice greatly appreciated! Jon
