Other than the lack of network, congrats on the new box. If we are unable
to fix it, you could send it to me and I’ll throw it away for you.

Does your router have a web interface? Does it see your new computer, and
if so show its IP address, etc.?
Can one of these many other devices ping your new box by IP address? I
presume your new box has an IP address, but that information is missing so
please run the following commands and provide their output here:
ip addr
ip r
ip -s link
grep -v -e '^#' /etc/resolv.conf
grep -v -e '^#' /etc/hosts
So this router is serving a desktop, 3 laptops, 2 smartphones, and 2
rokus. I first tried installing leap 42.1 but was unsuccessful so i
How, exactly, were you unsuccessful? Did not boot to install media? Did
not complete install? Completed but system would not boot?
By this I mean with the first disk the install would not proceed. I think the disk couldn’t be read. Since Leap 42.1 wouldn’t install, I grabbed a 13.1 disk within reach and installed it. I wanted to test the hardware in case I needed an RMA before it was too late. I couldn’t get anything done for 2 weeks after the parts came in anyway because of work. So I was in a bit of a hurry. BTW I tried to install the os on the 128GB M.2 (sdb) but it kept partitioning with it and the Samsung SSD (sda). It split /, /swap, the UEFI boot FAT, and /home between the two disks. I wanted the os on the M.2, swap in a separate partition or on another drive, and the 2 Samsungs as home. The partitioner sees both Samsungs but won’t let me partition both. When I tried to partition manually it would change my config every time. Here are the results:
linux-28eo:/home/tony # fdisk -l

It may be good to know how you verify that something will not connect to
the network. Do lights flash on the NIC on the computer and router sides
when you plug in the cable? Does the Network Manager icon change on the
desktop? Anything in /var/log/messages about networking being setup via DHCP?
I haven’t seen lights on the nic although ifup says it is configered. The icons in the tray will change all the from red x to green connected - but no connection. Everything looks as it should be as far as I can tell.

This sounds like your 13.1 system lost connection when going through the
modem directly, after having the connection, doing the speed test, and at
least seeing there were updates to be downloaded. Odd that it worked
right up until it suddenly stopped at some level. If that understanding
is incorrect and instead your 13.1 system was not connected through the
router (where it previously could not connect) please clarify.
I haven’t been able to get it to connect thru the router.

You are not even able to ping your gateway? When you try and it doesn’t
work, what output do you get back to the screen?
No, cannot ping 192.168.1.1 router, nor 192.168.100.1 modem.

Where do you see it reported as 13.1, exactly?
see separate post.
