Did several clean installations on Compaq Laptop. AMD dual core, and Nvidia graphics. It ran well on 13.2. I have seen many a discussion on this problem, but I have yet to find a solution. It just hangs at Loading Ram Disk. I have to reboot at that time. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Try adding “dis_ucode_ldr” to the boot options, i.e. press ‘e’ at the boot menu and append that to the line starting with “linux”/“linuxefi”.
You can add it permanently in YaST->System->Boot Loader, once you get into your system.
Will hopefully be fixed with the next kernel update…
It has no effect. Does occasionally boot up. Maybe once out of every 30-40 boots!
Well, then the best thing you probably can do is to file a bug report (against the kernel I think).

If all else fails, try booting with old GRUB instead of the default GRUB2. I had the same problem on one system with 13.1; GRUB2 works fine on another system multibooting WinXP, Leap and 13.1. Other variables: is the bootloader installed in the MBR or / (or /boot), is there Windows with UEFI on the same system?
