I’m not complaining since I’ve been ambivalent with the more recent interface naming based on manufacturer name… and been willing to suffer the problems that caused because so many apps rely on the legacy naming scheme, but…
Am wondering about the decision behind this change,
Are we leading a movement “Back to the Future” rolling back the naming scheme?
Or, is this an accident?
I’ve never been on board with the reasoning behind the naming scheme based on manufacturer… I’ve never been that confused on a multi-homed machine that I couldn’t fix any networking that wasn’t set up properly by default and I’m not sure that the newer naming scheme necessarily solved that kind of problem unless you used network cards from different manufacturers for each physical connection.
I’m glad to hear that!
I worry about the future of Linux, as most seem to go along with Red Hat and the systemd devs so willingly; and although this is not a big deal, in itself, it has annoyed me.
