Soon, I will installing a fairly fast laptop. Intel Core ultra9 + 32gb RM + nvidia 4060 8Gb with KDE.
My choices are either:
leap 16 and install the apps that are “missing” or not up-to-date enough (according to me) with flatpaks.
tumbleweed w/o the flatpaks.
There are a couple of programs that I use as AppImages that are not available in obs or the other repos.
Your suggestions.

If you are wanting the most up-to-date packages, I don’t see any upside to choosing Leap over Tumbleweed. If one flavor has the packages I want, I would rather use that than flatpaks. I would trust my own distribution’s packages over flathub or wherever you’d get the flatpaks, not to say those other sources aren’t trustworthy.
If you want the stability of Leap with a recent version of KDE, you can use the “semi-official” and experimental repositories on OpenBuildService.
Please note that beta versions are also distributed via these repositories.
Flatpak and AppImage are reliable and interesting formats for software that is not available as RPM packages.
Given the huge number of users on this forums that struggle with the consequences of using 3rd party repos, I will never ever suggest that. One has to fully understand these consequences before doing so.
