Leap 16 beta -- mate desktop missing much configurational capabilities

Long time openSUSE and mate desktop user. Installed leap 16 beta in a vm for testing and started with mate desktop.

I am finding so many anomalies with mate configuration options that I am wondering if mate transfer to leap 16 is not fully completed. For example, widgets/applets do not get added to panel. Also, select background wallpaper does not change wallpaper. And many others.

I am wondering if, perhaps, these items have not yet been installed and it is not necessary to open any threads on them. Also, maybe these items could be caused by libvirt vm install.

Should I just wait or should I start noting problems? I’m sure personnel do not need added things to do.

Also, where is best place to report issues? I think problem notes should go to openSUSE rather than mate people.

Are you sure that you have all needed Mate patterns and packages installed?

Did a test install of Mate in a Leap 16 VB via patterns-mate-mate .
I can change the wallpaper. I can add applications to the panel. I can add widgets/applets to the panel. So i’m not able to reproduce your issues.

I too, run the MATE desktop.

I have widgets and make changes to the panel.

I did have to have to enable the GUI - I did not install xfce, gnome or kde.

to enable the GUI

systemctl enable display-manager-legacy.service
systemctl start display-manager-legacy.service

I installed mate from the “pattern” for mate in new yast. I will look and see if some files were not included.
