Leap 16 Beta - am I doing something wrong?

I have has a VirtualBox Leap 16 VM for over a month and no updates at all.

I do the following:

zypper ref
zypper up

and there are no update and all bug that have been reported are still there.

You are not new to openSUSE to not be aware that there are no regular updates until release.

Leap needs a
zypper dup
until its Release.

Same to my Leap-16-beta, no updates since May 3rd.
zypper dup also says Nothing to do.

Do I need to activate more or other repos? Repos are still default:

When you want to show your repo list here, then please use

zypper lr -d

and copy/paste the code (including the command line and all output) as code (the </> button) on your post.

We need the URLs to check and we do not like screen shots when not really needed.

Since I ran a zypper dup to move from 16 Alpha to 16 Beta, have seen no updates via zypper up.

I’m curious why this thread is tagged
“leap-16-alpha” … should be tagged as
“leap-16-beta”

Sorry, I didn’t know that.

As far as I know I haven’t changed any repo settings since fresh net-install.

Of course not. There are no updates between milestones, Leap 16 beta was released with installers and matching repositories. Next will likely be RC.

If you want to follow daily development you need to use https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Leap:/16.0/standard/

Thank you very much, this is what I’m looking for! But I have issues to “activate” this repo.

I added the repository with:

sudo zypper addrepo -f -r https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Leap:/16.0/standard/openSUSE:Leap:16.0.repo

Now there is a new repo no. 8:

I checked:
https://en.opensuse.org/Package_management
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Add_package_repositories
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Vendor_change_update
…but I have no clue - and no updates. What is the last column “Service”, which is “openSUSE” for repos 2 - 7?

Agreed.

During the Alpha release, a number of updates happened… as one would expect.

(I copy paste the results of every zypper up or zypper dup output to an ongoing text file).

But since the dup to Beta, nothing yet.

This is expected behavior in a beta. Things are mostly going to remain static while things get polished, and the only general changes that are going to be made are in response to beta testers bug reports.

Which if you’re using the beta, and not filing bug reports when encountering issues, you’re doing it wrong. This forum is not a bug tracker.

Leap is not rolling like Tumbleweed is, and frankly, shouldn’t be seeing massive updates in the first place.

In addition, with the infrastructure issues over the last two weeks, and the holiday in Europe, it’s not surprising that you’re not seeing updates.

I just did a “zypper up” on my Leap 16 Beta, and got 2280+ package updates. Rebooted and all seems fine.

You should check, if you haven’t already.

I got it yesterday. It finally got wine this time.

@larryr … five days later (after that last big update), I just did a “zypper up” and got 851 updates.

My understanding is that with Betas you need to do zypper dup not up until it reaches gold.
