Leap 16 and YaST

@deano_ferrari

I give up … too many problems. I need a stable environment as in 15.6

So, I give 16.0 another go realising that my AMD processor has graphics integrated. By decommission the nvidia graphics card installation should work… and it did (ordered a cheap two screen supporting radeon graphic card from Temu :grinning:

that was so far successful , as in , no drop-outs !!!

Since Yast is available to install …so I did …but the gui is missing ?!?

Any idea where to get the gui from ?

Yast is around for 20 years plus. I hardly could see any improvement/update over that period. Great concept, everything in one place.

If I could get the yast gui, that would be great.

cheers

YaST GUI isn’t part of the Leap 16 environment anymore.

Maybe the better question is: what are you trying to configure that you’d previously have used YaST for?

…and Cockpit should take over. I will give it a go… once I have a stable environment and Ardour (DAW) is ready to record

anyway I found the missing files re yast gui => libyui*****

thanks for your help and have a great day

Yes, take a look at it… and raise a new topic for any config query you may have going forward.

Upstream documentation:

And have a read at cockpit-the-easy-way

YaST on Leap 16.0 is a dead end: There is neither support nor updates. The new Agama installer uses some library parts of YaST; that’s why those packages are still built for Leap 16.0.

For software and repository management, use Myrlyn; for general system administration tasks, use Cockpit. And of course don’t forget the system settings of your desktop for things like screen resolution, keyboard layout, mouse, printer setup, network.
