After going through the installation procedure, I’m informed that I need to address two issues before installation can proceed. Under the heading “Software” it says I need to install or select “openSUSE-repos-Leap” and “sudo-policy-wheel-auth-self”.
Can someone explain how to do this. If I select every software category on offer, it still persists. What am I missing?
Hello, you are using the Offline Image (4.3 GiB)? I did have the same problem (unsolved).
Then I used the Network Image (606.7 MiB) and I could install Leap 16 Alpha without any problems.
Not sure why this is tagged with “leap-156”.
There is a “leap-16-alpha” tag. Tag needs to be changed.
Agreed, changed to leap-16
My recommendation was the tag with the specific name, “leap-16-alpha” since Leap 16 in currently in Alpha release … but anyway
Yes, those are packages that it is recommending that you choose in the Software selection step.
“openSUSE-repos-Leap” is for the definitions for openSUSE repository management via zypp-services.
The “sudo-policy-wheel-auth-self” package is for the “sudo authentication policy that allows users in the wheel group to authenticate as root with their own password”.
… more info on that here: Sudo announcement - upcoming changes - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists
And as a matter of fact, both those packages are also available in Leap 15.6
Thanks for the replies.
I should have mentioned that I’m trying to use the offline installer to make the installation.
I do know what the packages, “openSUSE-repos-Leap” and “sudo-policy-wheel-auth-self”, are for. That isn’t the problem. The problem is that there doesn’t appear to be any way to select and install them from the installation package. The “Software” section gives a list of patterns to select and install. If I select every single pattern, it still asks me to select and install these two individual packages and there doesn’t seem to be a way to do so.
I think I’ll try the Network Image as Kieltux suggests.
Hmmmm. Interesting. So it’s refusing to move on with the install unless those two packages are selected. (?). Strange.
When I installed 16-alpha, back in Feb 13, the installer didn’t request those packages.
As a matter of fact, I just logged into my 16 VM and executed Myrlyn to check for those two packages.
openSUSE-repos-Leap package is installed, and I suspect it was a default selection.
sudo-policy-wheel-auth-self is NOT installed, but the package is listed in Myrlyn.
Folks have complained | commented about the new Agama installer , ie, about its lack of detailed choices and stuff to install. It’s also not very informative during the install process, providing very little detail about progress.
Of course, two months have passed since I installed, so maybe there are improvements
BTW, there’s a tag called “leap-16-alpha” if you’re interested in reading previous posts.
Not sure why they created this “leap-16” tag, because it’s not released yet.
You need to submit bug report for Leap 16.
