Leap 16 Agama Storage - Can't select existing partitions (LVM)

It depends on your particular requirements. It does offer some flexibility with storage configuration…,

You should try it without committing to an actual install to see if it caters to your needs as it stands (version 17).

@cmueli the options are there in the drop downs to use existing partitions and format (or not) selections are there as well…

Have you even tried it before jumping to conclusions?

I couldn’t find such options to reuse existing partitions, at least not LVM volumes. There is also not an option to just re-use the existing layout and format selected volumes/partitions.

That option doesn’t appear if your “partitions” are on LVM volumes. There’s no apparent way to pick an existing LVM volume group to then use an existing volume as it won’t proceed without a mount point and the volume group isn’t a mount point. (edited for clarity)

Sure. like it always was since supporting encryption, encrypted LVM (one key/password), and separate filesystems for root and home and swap in LVs.

On a new disk, my new installed Leap 16 with encrypted disk is a lot worse for me, as I have to enter the password for the boot and for the swap. Older releases didn’t had this restriction with LVM.

iirc mine doesn’t see ext4. it has a btrfs bias seems to me

but i will have to check. agama is the most complicate and labyrinthine UI i have ever come across, so there is no guarantee i will find my way back to that screen in a hurry!

Edit: I’ve found some Documentation (might help me ask better questions ;=) )

A post was split to a new topic: Agama Installer - storage setup limitations

Are you kidding? I am not an expert. However Agama allows me to install everything I need:

Lucky you and your particular individual use case!
