Leap 16.0 Installer hangs at wtmpdb message

Hello everyone and thanks for your attention!

I am trying to install Leap 16.0 from the offline image.
Background information:

  1. Downloaded file matches the checksum.
  2. Used Imagewriter to create bootable USB disk.
  3. iwlwifi informs that it does not recognize the NIC.
  4. Install hangs at message: Starting write boot and shutdown times into wtmpdb

What was tried:
A) Get a shell at pre-mount stage (rd.break=pre-mount init=/bin/sh) and manually issue:
mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /var/log
It passed but later hangs at
Restore /run/initramfs on shutdown
B) Failsafe install with (rd.driver.pre) options for loading rndis_host to provide internet access. Agama created an IP but it was unreachable from within my network (all in runlevel 3).

Machine is an ASUS UX5406SA Notebook:

  • Intel Core TM Ultra 7 Processor (Intel AI Boost NPU up to 47).
  • Intel Arc TM Graphics.
  • 1TB M.2 NVMeTM PCIe 4.0 SSD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated by this newbie.

Could not solve it for this setup.
Got Leap 16.0 with the opensuse-migration-tool.

Thanks for sharing your install experience. I recommend submitting a bug report for this.
