LEAP 15 - Boot message text is garbled

When I reboot I first see a screen full of messages that is readable. (kernel space).
Then the set of messages following that (user space) appears to be garbled, there is font overlap.

After login, I press CTRL+ALT+F2 and the font there is okay and readable.

It is just the font for the users pace messages that is not readable.

I have the following in /etc/default/console-setup

ACTIVE_CONSOLES=guess
CHARMAP=
CODESET=
FONTFACE=
FONTSIZE=
VIDEOMODE=
FONT='ter-v32n'

And under kernel parameter for grub2 I have

splash=nomodeset showopts vga=792

I have also tried

splash=nomodeset showopts

Console Resolution is set to 1600x1200

Any ideas on how to change the font for user space messages?

Thank you.

Likely /boot/grub2/* doesn’t have your choice of font ter-v32n, and you need to provide it with grub2-mkfont.
