I just installed leap 15.6 with KDE. Upon logging in I was greeted with an interface that was frighteningly reminiscent of the old windows metro interface. The settings options have nothing to configure the look and feel, and the kde systemsettings (which I have to run from the command line) do not take. Any effort to find or change this interface have failed. Can anyone guide me in bringing back the old panel/menu setup? this interface is garbage
It is not at all clear what you did to get to that screen.
To me, that looks like a Gnome screen rather than a KDE screen.
Here’s what the initial KDE screen should look like:
The third icon from the left, on that bottom panel, is for System Settings.
When you are at the login screen, there should be a choice of desktops. If you are using GDM, it might default to Gnome (if Gnome is installed). Make sure that you select Plasma for the login.
That is the Gnome desktop, not KDE Plasma.
