You should only check that the repo URLs point to 15.5 (as it already should be…)…nothing more…

Thanks for reply! I think then I’m save:

So after the release I do a final zypper dup and afterwards proceed with zypper up for the future, right?
Yes. Thats all what is needed.
Yes, that’s right.
The final release seems to now be in the repos, so I have just done my
zypper dup
to bring my Leap 15.5 system to release status.
Many thnaks for replying! I just did a
sudo zypper dup
[sudo] password for root:

It was discussed quite extensively recently. In general, zypper up
tries to keep installed packages, so if some update is incompatible and requires removal of existing packages zypper
will not offer it. Unfortunately, zypper
is well known for rather scarce diagnostic. Running it with --verbose
may provide some more information.
But if you have some external package (like palemoon
) it may well depend on the exact package versions so updating them breaks palemoon
.
You could also try to request installation of the exact package version, zypper
should then offer removal of some existing package.
I’ll suggest that you try:
zypper dup --dry-run
This won’t actually update anything (because it is a dry-run), but it might give conflicts which could help explain what is happening.

Today is the day of release and it is quite normal that the servers are running out of their capacities.
I am quite certain that some admins take care for this at the moment.
So, lean back, grap a coffee or whatever you like and give it try in a couple of minutes…
@rhussain there was also an outage, but you need to fix that snappy repo it still points to 15.4?
I tried to put 15.5 but it was giving me same error. Repo is not accessible or I am using wrong repo.
@rhussain switch to mirrorcache in your locale, see https://en.opensuse.org/MirrorCache

@rhussain yes, all of those that exist, packman doesn’t use mirror cache of course. But you need to check they exist, the default Leap 15.5 ones certainly do. I just updated my ADS-B system from Leap 15.4 to Leap 15.5 took about 10 minutes…
Read the Upgrade guide I linked, don’t forget to grab the new repo key too.
I also add -vvv
to my zypper commands to get more information on the upgrade.
Note I only update the enabled repos -E
option;

You have third party repositories that offer packages with higher version. “zypper up” will not switch vendor so it is pretty normal you get message about packages that won’t be installed.
