Leap 15.5 cannot update or install new programs with zypper or yast

Four weeks ago I installed Leap 15.5 on a new Lenovo ThinkPad with Intel Core i5 and 16 GB memory. Actually I had installed Leap 15.5 Beta in May, but it did not work very well - the new Intel IRISxe graphics was not supported to run a 2nd large monitor.
The upgrade to Leap 15.5 was flawless. The 2nd monitor worked straight away on the IRISxe graphics.
In the first week I was able to install packages like gcc, so that I could work with the system. But since then whenever the system notifies upgrades I have problems. The upgrade fails with

Update Error
the installed plymouth-lang-0.9.5~git20210406.e554475-150400.3.8.1.noarch requires 'plymouth = 0.9.5~git20210406.e554475', but this requirement cannot be provided

I have posted the whole dialog, which shows several errors. But all attempts to install packages like GitHup gh or Zoom or any other fail with a similar message that the file cannot be found on the installation media or more often that the installation media cannot be read. When I try to open the URI mentioned in a browser, that immediately jumps to something else, which does net seem to be related.

I have not touched the repositories. That is how they were after installation.

What can I do. I will be traveling from Australia to Europe in a weeks time and need my laptop to be working properly. Thanks - John

Sory, but that is useless. There are only Aliases and Names there that are local to the system. The URLs are needed to inform people about which repos they are.

zypper lr -d

And you seem to have there repos that are not openSUSE 15.5, but SLE ones.

BTW, please copy/paste one more line at the top (the one with the prompt and the command and do not type what I quoted above (most people find that easier to do and we find it very nice to see what you did as whom and where).

All the repos that I have were put there by the Leap 15.5 Beta installation and Leap 15.5 Upgrade. I am not too familiar with what repos are needed and how to minipulate (de-install and install them). Here the full output you requested

The upgrade to Leap 15.5 was flawless

It was an Upgrade from Leap15.5 Beta, which was a new installation. I had done some work with 15.5 Beta an Upgrade seemed the sensible option so as to retain all the partitions.

You better explain such things from the very beginning.
How did you “upgrade”?

IMHO your repo list is a bot of a mess.

In any case #1 (with the very explaning Alias and Name of “Repository”) seems to be an installation medium. That should be disabled (or better removed) else every zypper action will ask for it to be mounted.

#8 is something about 15.4, thus wrong, remove it.

All those with GAS/pool are also no Leap 15.5 repos.

And there are more. Sorry, I have to go, but others may inspect this list further.

Hallo auch von mir.

As I explained to hcv above, I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad on which I did a new installation of Leap 15.5Beta in May 23. In the middle of July I upgraded to Leap 15.5 with a downloaded ISO on a USB key. I looked at your link but it is mainly about doing a live upgrade with zypper. I need to learn which repositories are needed and how to manipulate them.

No, they were not. The SUSE:SLE* repositories are from one-click install. They are never added by Leap installation or upgrade. Remove these repositories, they do not exist.

I did a fresh install of Leap 15.5Beta in May and downloaded Leap15.5 ISO in mid July - copied it to a USB stick and booted the USB and chose Update because I had already set up all the partitions for the Leap 15.5Beta install.

I have deleted the “Repository” installation medium. It was called for as a Repository for one of the programs I tried to install.
I have also deleted #8 something about 15.4 and all SLE repositories ending in GA. Arvidjaar below suggest these came from a one click install. ???

Now all 23 Updates have been done successfully.

But I still cannot install software with YAST. Just tried to install GitHub gh - I get the same message I got previously :

Cannot access installation media 
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Leap:/15.5/standard/
openSUSE:Leap:15.5 (Medium 1).
Check whether the server is accessible.

When I check the URL above in a browser it comes up with Error 404 Resource is no longer available! Last week the browser immediately jumped to a different URL, which did not seem to be related.

The link is wrong. While technically it may be redirected to the correct URL, it is not guaranteed and apparently depends on at least your geographical location. The only correct link is http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.5/repo/oss/. Again, the wrong link most likely comes from one-click install.

Do you suggest that one-click installs should be avoided. Early in the piece I successfully installed SKYPE with a one click install. The web pages for the one-click installs are official looking openSUSE. I need ZOOM and have it on another computer which I als upgraded successfully from Leap 15.2 to Leap 15.5. That computer gives me no trouble. But I need the Laptop to be working for travel.

You just remove the repository definition that has this URL. It was number 4 in your previous output, no idea what number it has now (OK, it is number 1 in the latest list you posted). You already have another repository definition with the correct URL and this one is completely redundant.

Assuming it is a question - one-click from third-party, non-Open Build Service, resources should be OK. You can use it for Open Build Service as well, as long as you do not blindly accept the suggested list of repositories. At least all SUSE:SLE* repositories need to be deleted and as you have seen, openSUSE:Leap:* also may not work and is redundant. Other repositories are most likely needed (the very reason for one-click is to provide the complete list of all dependent repositories).

Repository numbers #1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 are from one-click installations and needs to be deleted. They only cause troubles…

Repo number #10 is your original USB drive medium from where you iunstalled openSUSE. This one can be deleted.

The only real and original repos that come with an openSUSE installation are repo number #11 to #24

The other repos where added by you either per on-click installation or other ways.
