first of all, I’m quite new to OpenSuse and to this forum, so please if I got the wrong forum to ask my question…point me to the right direction :).
I’m trying to get OpenSuse-11.2 + Informix to authenticate against an Active Directory LDAP service while using PAM this is not a problem, I need to overpass PAM because the Java application which triggers the user authentication on Informix can’t be changed…using PAM the authentication string used has to be changed.
I can’t verify the last statement, I just have to trust our developers here…
My real question…¿Is there any way to overpass PAM on todays Linux Distributions like OpenSuse? I see everything linked against libpam and I’m not sure, even if I get the auth via LDAP working properly, that overcoming PAM can be done.
Thanks in advance, any clarification will be much appreciated.
It seems I have understood how Informix authenticate users. It looks at your nsswitch.conf and make a connection to your LDAP server based on settings defined on /etc/ldap.conf. I’m not saying I’m sure 100% on this…but from my observation, it seems so.
