LDAP and Wireless

LDAP and Wireless

Hi,
I want to authenticate against a LDAP server on a laptop over wireless. Also, I want to cashe the users profiles somehow so that when the user returns from a trip, they can sync the information from the hard drive to the share I will create for them. I wan’t all users that are on my network to be able to access all the documents they have “Touched” within the last 30 days.

Hope you can help me,
Thanking you now,
Thanks for listening,

Well, authenticating via LDAP is nice until you disconnect from the
network completely… then how do you connect? Novell’s Linux User
Management (LUM) solves this, just so you know in case that was also
required. Authenticating via wireless is probably just fine as long as
you can get the wireless working with the system startup, which I think
is possible via Yast with the traditional configuration of the wireless
connection (via user-controlled method).

Synchronize documents… rsync over SSH is a good option, but
something like iFolder is nicer for end users.

Good luck.

Hi,

Thanks, … Um, … what was all that. I am completly new to OPENSUSE. Um, I think in windows you could setup something that would allow what I am trying to do as far as setting up a sync method between the laptop and server. I basically want the entire copy of every document all the users on my server have “Touched” in the last thirty days, as well as the user ids and passwords synced to the laptop when it is connected to my server.

Thanks for listening,
Alex,
