Launcher Issue

I have an application that I want to include an icon on my Activities list or column (Gnome). I created a launch file and saved it in the Desktop file. The icon is displayed and I can click on it to start the application, this works just fine. Now I want to be able to add this launch icon to my Activities list. I copied the launch file to /usr/local/share/applications folder. But the icon does not show up on the Applications list and if I try to start the application from /usr/local/share/applications I get an error “command not found”. What am I missing.

Hi
You should copy it to your user directory which is
~/.local/share/applications

In your desktop file should be the full path to your application if
it’s not in the system path.

openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) Kernel 3.7.10-1.16-desktop
up 2 days 10:32, 5 users, load average: 0.25, 0.20, 0.28
CPU AMD E2-1800@1.70GHz | GPU Radeon HD 7340

Thank you, that works perfect.
