Have installed latte dock in kde-plasma wayland.
I have the desktop icons arranged “top to bottom” (ie vertically), but when running latte-dock, it changes the arrangement to horizontal?? (ie when arranged top to bottom, end up with 2x columns of icons on the LHS, but latte re-arranges that, so I have 2x rows at the top of the screen). Also, if I then bring up the kde panel “add widgets”, it only shows one row of widgets, but this is scrollable… As if it doesn’t want to touch most of the bottom of the screen…
Overall, it doesn’t work very well.
This is on Tumbleweed, fully patched, standard Intel graphics… (ie not Nvidia…)
Just want to be clear about this (to be sure I’m not still sleeping )
a) You are referring to the “desktop icons” and NOT the icons on the Latte dock, correct?
b) Where is your Latte dock - bottom of screen (or …)?
I’ve been running Latte Dock for a very l long time and have never seen where Latte dock influences the desktop icons. (Latte at bottom, desktop icons as with your config, but NOT running Wayland, but X11)
I show my desktop icon config here:
Correct: Yes, Desktop icons, and Latte at bottom of screen.
But, as you say, have been running in X11 and all good, only when changing to Wayland does it break…
That’s why I don’t run Wayland.
I still consider it “broken” to this day, and why I’ll not run it. If a visual environment is 20% questionable, I’ll not use it - it’s not worth the effort. But that’s my opinion.
If you figure it out, be sure to post back, so others can benefit
.
(sidenote: been using Linux, and specifically openSuse, for so many years I forget the count, and have a pretty good feel if something works or not: not? don’t use).
Yeah, I’m much the same.
Occasionally start up in Wayland to see what issues I have, try and fix them, can’t - go back to X11…
My biggest issue with X11, is the fact that the screensaver/power settings, don’t work 70% of the time - PITA!
Works in Wayland…
Never mind, try again later!
Thanks.
I wasn’t impressed with my recent experience with Wayland. I also use Latte, running on X11 … I never used Latte when testing Wayland, so can’t provide any feedback.
I know it’s a completely different topic, but the screensaver and Sleep mode works pretty much as I expect it to (100%), on a laptop and desktop.
