Latest versions of packages_ configuration, installation, notification [ email or rss ]

  • installation of tumbleweed is over
  • migrating from debian [ unstable + experimental ]
  • where can i find latest version of packages? ex: debian has_ tracker.debian.org
  • how to configure to install latest versions?
  • how do i configure to receive news about latest versions available by plain text email or *rss
  • rephrase_ looking for equivalent of debian tracker [ all info in one location ]

Tumbleweed has the latest QA/Tested versions and are released in each new snapshot which you update to via zypper dup.

You could add development repositories, but little point as it doesn’t take long to filter through. For searching look at http://software.opensuse.org/search there is also a command line utility opi but would suggest just using for search, but can install packages with this but it can cause issues.

You can pick up the RSS feed in the forum for a new Tumbleweed snapshot release, subscribe to the Factory Mailing list or look at the changes file in the Tumbleweed iso repository.
