I have the default version of firefox (version 19.0) that came with my openSUSE 12.3 installation but I’m looking to update it to the latest version. I’ve checked YaST and the openSUSE and Mozilla documentation but I’ve failed to get the new version.
Also, I’ve looked to install Opera but YaST didn’t help and neither did their website.
Any help on how to install firefox and Opera would be appreciated, thank you.

I have the default openSUSE version, and it is version 22, so you are
doing it wrong.
Just fire up yast, and click on “online update”, and let it run.

I generally save it rather than open it as KDE might get in the way with it’s own install.
Right click the rpm and select open with YAST, provide root password when asked.
Done
You should be able to do the same sort of thing with Firefox
On 11.4 the rpm can simply be launched with a click. KDE package manager grabs it and fortunately does pass it to YAST or zyper. Haven’t done this on 12.3 yet and assume the same thing will happen. I’m cautious because KDE wont be checking the install in the same way that the opensuse utilities do. I notice that KDE now offers an uninstall from application launch - my advice would be not to use it. Use the same OpenSuse utilities.
