Latest Mesa updates break opengl

The last big Tumbleweed update broke opengl on my system. I had to use Xrender to get back my transparency settings.
It turns out that the updated Mesa packages are at fault, reverting back to the pre-update version, solves the problem. There was also an emergency update for Mesa that has already been published to the factory update repos, these packages also work.

Problematic versions are 17.1.6.171.1
Working versions are 17.1.6.170.1 and 17.1.6.173.1

I did not dig deeper which of the Mesa package is at fault.

As you write, a fixed package is in the Tumbleweed update repo already (since Monday).

The breakage was caused by the glibc upgrade to 2.26 and only affected non-english systems (so it wasn’t detected by the automatic tests).

You are right, but the packages that are currrently in the Tumbleweed main repo still cause the issue on my that is set to the German locale.

The versions in the factory update repo work.

Yes, it does take a while for packages to go through the review and staging process into the standard Tumbleweed repo.
(and if there is some problem that prevents a new Tumbleweed snapshot from being published, this can be delayed even further)

That’s exactly the reason why there is a dedicated Update repo for Tumbleweed too.
This allows to publish “emergency updates” with critical fixes as soon as possible, bypassing the standard process.

I’m trying to use modern OpenGL with opensource drivers on Linux. when it’s not open or not responding then update the version on your system and re-install the systemhttps://notresponding.net/fallout-4-not-working/
