Large zipper dup stalling at ghc packages

As already mentioned in your former thread from two month ago…here some steps how to do basic system housekeeping:

Tumbleweed sudo zypper dup had 6500 updates -- 5/3/2026

As these “big” updates happen regularly, you might ask another question: why has this system 6500 packages? It depends…but there are some basic mitigations which reduce the overall amount of packages on every system. Skim regularly through your app list. Do i need this app? No? Uninstall it. Do not “simply install” a package. Use zypper or Myrlyn parameters like --no-recommends. Do you need an impressive example what is the difference with and without this parameter?
