Suspend worked normally when closing the lid. My daughter closed the lid yesterday, with the HDMI cable connected to a TV that was turned off (it has no standby, apparently).
Today (before updates) the laptop was very hot. It didn’t suspend, just turned off the laptop display and switched the primary display to the TV.
If I disconnect the HDMI cable it suspends normally.
Same behavior after updates today. Last update before today was probably a couple months ago.
It sounds as if it might be a deliberate design feature – when watching TV, you can close the lid. Maybe look to see if there are any relevant BIOS settings.

Not really.

Hi
Or some conflict with logind which has happened in the past with Plasma
from memory…
I always set lid switch to ignore in /etc/systemd/logind.conf.

What would this do? Disable suspend or force it?
Hi
Unfortunately I don’t have a suggestion, it was just an observation

Actually, I think nrickert is right. My daughter returned from a holiday today and told me it have always behaved like that, so my mistake. Apparently, AFAIR does not go far at all
