Hi Im on a macbook model a1502, my laptop froze today so i forced a power off with the power button, rebooted to a black screen multiple times, i let the power drain the battery, replugged and got no boot whatsoever after waiting a little while for the battery to recharge.
Are you running OpenSuse on the laptop? If so, please spend more words on what is your exact configuration.
It looks to me there is almost never a reason to let the power drain the battery (I guess until empty?) but at least it is not a good thing for battery life.
If things are not booting you best option is to boot for USB stick and/or to check the BIOS although I do not know how that works for a macbook.
Leap 15.2, macbook a1502, no power on whatsoever.
To reiterate i booted to black screen after a freeze so i let the battery drain to effectively disconnect the power since i dont have the right tool to open it, whereupon after recharging the battery there was not even a boot to blackscreen- no power or any boot whatsoever, not even to bios.
That looks like a hardware problem.
Still wondering about draining the battery, as far as I can check on the Internet the macbook a1502 has a power button. If things go not off the normal way, you can normally keep the power button pressed for several seconds and the unit will go off “forced”.
I see the macbook does not have a BIOS but “Open Firmware”, can you enter that?
