Everything was working fine until recent updates. Now I can’t scroll window sidebars, drag and drop stopped working and can’t use the touchpad mouse for copying text in any windows.
Only thing working is left/right click.
Please give us some hints on the following items –
- Desktop GUI – KDE, GNOME, something else?
- Hardware? – “inxi --admin --usb” …
- Relevant systemd Journal entries? – “journalctl --no-hostname” …
*=2]Please note that, there shouldn’t be any need to drop the entire Journal into your reply – only the relevant error and warning entries are needed.
I found out I can scroll using two fingers. One finger doesn’t work anymore left clicking the scroll bar and trying to drag it.
Same thing with copying text. If i hold down left clicking I can copy text. I guess some settings must have been changed.
I’m using KDE

In “System Settings” → “Hardware” → “Input Devices” there are Touchpad settings which influence the “one | two | three” finger(s) behaviour and, the (Touchpad) edge scrolling behaviour.
- There’s also the possibility to setup some gestures …

There’s this ArchWiki information – <https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Touchpad_Synaptics> –
- But, don’t map that information to a KDE Plasma desktop – KDE writes the user’s Touchpad settings to ‘~/.conf/’ …
- The section “The touchpad is not working, Xorg.0.log shows “Query no Synaptics: 6003C8”
” is covered by the default Leap 15.3 ‘/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-synaptics.conf’ file …
The touchpad was working fine until updates were installed yesterday. Now I can’t control the mouse cursor with the touchpad anymore.Scrolling pages vertically with two fingers used to work, not now.
The touchscreen still works ok.
The IBM track point mouse in the keyboard still moves the mouse ok.
It’s funny the tracpad works fine on the log in screen. After I log in it stops working. I tried gnome and kde, same thing.
Hello,
Hope you are doing good. Follow these following steps.
1- Press the Windows key
2- type touchpad and select the Touchpad settings option in the search results. Or, press Windows key + I to open Settings,
3- Then click Devices, Touchpad.
4- In the Touchpad window, scroll down to the Reset your touchpad section and click the Reset button.
Now test the touchpad to see if it works.
