Would you recommend the generic or the desktop kernel for a laptop (acer, Intel Dual core (32 bits), year 2007, intel graphic card)?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Desktop kernel uses low latency and thus is better suited for (tadaa) desktop operations.
-desktop = low latency, good for multimedia applications and everyday work.
-default = generic, good for servers.
