Language 'en_AU' was not found within the list of supported languages[Leap 15.0]

When I go to Yast2 Control Center -----> System -----> Language Module,
en_AU is not available as an option but I can select it in the details
section and the following error info is displayed:

"Language ‘en_AU’ was not found within the list of supported languages
available at /usr/share/YaST2/data/languages.

Fallback language en_US will be used."

This option used to be available all the way through to openSUSE 13.2
but I have not been able to set it up under any leap version.

Has this option been deprecated?

Have you considered posting a bug report?

I am not 100% sure that it is not some package I have uninstalled or
prevented from installing instead of a bug because I have been tabooing
(in Yast2 Software Manager) almost all the packages in the localisation
folder in the last few years. When 15.1 comes out soon, I will do a
standard clean install and then will consider filing a bug report should
the outcome be the same.

Okay. And 15.1 should be out soon enough.

openSUSE has en_AU and en_AU.utf8, but these are not available through “yast2 language”. To enable manually create /etc/locale.conf with contents: LC_CTYPE=en_AU.utf8

See also RC_LANG in “yast2 sysconfig”.

Thanks for your feedback and advice.

In /etc/locale.conf there was just the following single entry:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8

I tried your suggestion above and it would not be accepted but modifying
the existing entry to ‘LANG=en_AU.UTF-8’ worked and en_AU was set as the
primary language in the YAST2 Language module. I also set en_US as a
secondary language option (as a precaution).

In /etc/sysconfig/language file I have the following entry at the end:

List of installed language supports, use by YaST2

INSTALLED_LANGUAGES=“en_US,en_AU”

Lastly, in Plasma System Settings —> Regional Settings —> Language
—> Available languages tab there is no Australian English option. I
have American English under “Preferred Languages” option. British
English is available but not installed. In the ‘Formats’ (next option
below Language in Regional Settings) tab all selections are OK and
showing 'Australia - Australian English (en_AU). The Spell Check setting
is also OK and shows Australian English (Australia).

es_MX is in the languaje selector in YAST but defaults to en_US, If I set manually, the terminal and other tools cannot run.

Version 15.2

nahum@localhost:~/Documentos/software> locale
LANG=es_MX.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE=“es_MX”
LC_NUMERIC=“es_MX”
LC_TIME=“es_MX”
LC_COLLATE=“es_MX”
LC_MONETARY=“es_MX”
LC_MESSAGES=“es_MX”
LC_PAPER=“es_MX”
LC_NAME=“es_MX”
LC_ADDRESS=“es_MX”
LC_TELEPHONE=“es_MX”
LC_MEASUREMENT=“es_MX”
LC_IDENTIFICATION=“es_MX”
LC_ALL=es_MX

Hello,

Welcome to the openSUSE forums.

It is in general not a good idea to hang your problem at the end of an old and forgotten thread. Also you say you use 15.2, but the thread is clearly marked 15.0.

Please start a new thread with a good title and a good description. Much better for drawing attention.
