KWrite subtitle editing

I edit a .srt file in KWrite. The subtitle frame looks like this:

25
1:06:11,000 --> 1:06:15,000
Mr. Bond, were have you been?
We've been waiting for you.

A few years ago I edited a subtitle file (I don’t know if it was .srt) and I saw that the pipe ("|") was used for line break, so:

25
1:06:11,000 --> 1:06:15,000
Mr. Bond, were have you been? | We've been waiting for you.

there was no need of hitting Return.

Is there any other way of making the subtitle line go on the second line without actually hitting Return (I noticed that “|”, the pipe does not work in an .srt file for line break).
Thanks!

Well, there are several different subtitle formats, have a look here:

Maybe you edited a different one back then?

What do you have against pressing Return for a line break?

Maybe try a subtitle editing program, like software.opensuse.org: .

I don’t have anything against it. I just try to find alternatives. I guess “|” was for a .sub file and how to break a line within it. :slight_smile:
