Hey guys.
I use opensuse 12.1 with fglrx.
Kwin crashes pretty much everytime I login and stays frozen/crashed until I restart Xorg… in which case after 5 mins the same happens.
No idea why and no other observable pattern.
Any ideas?

did you upgrade? how? did you check the 12.1 CD (or DVD?) this way:

if you at the first green screen press F5 and select systemv, does
anything change?

It used to work just fine. Then I reinstalled and now this is happening.
I will try systemV.

if it was working fine why did you reinstall???

I reinstalled to fix a different problem.
running in system V doesn’t make a difference sadly.
I don’t want to reinstall again because I’m running servers on it and it will take at least 2 days to configure everything again. (It’s also my personal PC).

Is there anyway I can get suse to reconfigure kwin Xorg and fglrx?

Yes, check out that thread because it looks like we solved the problem! (no crashes so far and it’s got direct rendering)
