Ktorrent Unable to create /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/tor10/torrent: Permission denied

Try to open Ktorrent and get successive dialogues (below) when I click out of them. Program opens when I’ve clicked out of them all, but how to stop?

Unable to create /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/tor10/torrent: Permission denied
Unable to create /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/tor12/torrent: Permission denied
Unable to create /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/tor25/torrent: Permission denied

Ktorrent = version 5.0 Using:

  • KDE Frameworks 5.22.0
  • Qt 5.6.0 (built against 5.6.0)
  • The xcb
    windowing system

Thanks.

Well, apparently there are file/folder permission problems.
Fix them.

For further help, please post the output of:

ls -la /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/*

Might also be caused by a corrupt filesystem though, or a dying harddisk in the worst case…

Check permissions on that chain of directories make sure you own and have full permissions

Tor blocks the torrent protocol because it’s too bandwidth intensive relative to available voluntary nodes.

There are virtual networks that support torrent, I haven’t kept up with them but is fully supported and identified in Vuze.

TSU

???
There was no mention of Tor anywhere…
And this is not about a protocol being blocked, but rather files or directories on the local harddisk not being acessible.

The tor in the path names, e.g. /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/tor10/torrent is just an abbreviation for “torrent”…

Figured it I think. Right click Properties on /home/me/.local/share/ktorrent/ >> Permissions >> put a tick in : Apply changes to all subfolders and their contents >> Apply. It was empty before, never even noticed that setting tbh.
