KTorrent - errors with big files (roughly anything over >2 GB)

I get some strange errors about expanding allocation space or something like that when I try and download large files.

I’ve unticked the “pre allocate harddrive space” box, but I still get errors with big files.

I assume this is a common problem. What’s the solution, do I download a different client, or is there some way to fix this one?

It is helpful to know where (folder name) you are trying to save these files and just what kind of partition is it? A copy of your fstab file might also be helpful. Open up a terminal session and enter the following command:

cat /etc/fstab

You can post a copy of your fstab in your next message using the advanced message editor and then selecting all of that file text and pressing the code “#”. It will be placed into a code field like the cat command above.

Thank You,

Not having problems with large files using ktorrent.

Also, the exact text of the error would be helpful as well as <when> you see the error, eg during the download? After the download and during the total file checksum verification?
Plus, no disk quotas are set?

Recommend you also check free space on both your /home partition (default partition where your file is downloaded to) and /tmp (temporary files like partial downloads are located)

Am guessing you don’t have sufficient free space, but ktorrent normally warns you if you have insufficient space before you start downloading… If you’re getting a big file some alternate way ktorrent doesn’t know maybe that could cause a problem but depending on what that file transfer operation is I assume that should also give you a warning.

I assume this is a common problem

never had an issue with big files ( i move around 4 to 24 gig files all the time )

now if you are using a fat32 partition then there is a 3.9999999 gig file size limit

is this a usb thumb drive?
a NTFS formated drive?
an ext2,3,4 btfs ?
WHAT???
