ksoftirqd and X 100% cpu utilization

Running 11.1-RC1, kernel is Several times now, I’ve seen ksoftirqd eat a CPU and now I’m seeing X reported as pegging the second core as well. This is on a Sager NP5797 laptop with an Intel Core 2 dual core cpu.

Any idea what’s causing this? Once it starts, the only was to stop it is to restart the system.

Look at their announcement about GM release :slight_smile:
They had to repack everything, i’m not sure because i have 64 bit version but for example i have no more higher version of kernel which was earlier on. They took them off the server because of all the problems (no kernel source because of that etc. )
I recommend downgrading kernel?

Has there been any progress with this issue? I’ve seen this issue with every kernel since I installed 11.1-RC1. Looking through my install logs, I see the following that have been run on my system:

I’m running the PAE kernels on a laptop with an Intel P9500 cpu, Intel PM45 + ICH9M chipset, 4GB RAM, Realtek GigE, Intel 5300 wireless and a nVidia 9800M GTX.

The amount of time it takes for ksoftirqd to start chewing up 100% of one of the two cpu cores varies. Sometimes it’s within a few minutes and others, it can take hours. Once it starts, though, the only way to make it stop is to reboot.

It seems like a newest clevo notebook :slight_smile: I have nearly the same.

I finally get the proper working by using the newest kernel (just DL and make). There were lotsa changes in the 2.6.28 release concerning softirq.
