My Konsole program when I go to start it just flashes up on the screen for about a second and disappears. If I make the icon to run as super user then it opens. Can anyone please help. I cannot find where to uninstall it either.

install Xterm, then start konsole from within xterm and look for errors.

When I start xterm I only have about 5 seconds before it disappears as well, and if I can get konsole command in and hit enter in this time it does nothing.
When I pressed ctrl alt F1 to go to command prompt and type konsole it says Konsole: cannot connect to X server.

Sorry people, the problem was self inflicted. I had put a line into my .profile file which was SHELL=/home/user/.bashrc to fix another problem. When I removed this line all was well with the world.
