Konsole fails to load - "it probably crashed." says SuSE 12.3!

Installed 12.3 yesterday. Ran Konsole, resized it to 80x20, installed a new default colour scheme (only bg=blue/fg=yellow), changed typeface to DEC Terminal (bold), moved the tabs from bottom to top & ‘showed’ the ‘New Tab’ and ‘Close Tab’ button. This was all ok but when I tried to open again its thumbnail bounced all over the screen for about a minute and then stopped.

I tried launching from x-term (32bit terminal) and got the message:

unnamed app(2558): Communication problem with "konsole" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "

I can still use the Konsole in su mode but I have found that if I try to launch the the non-su version, it kills the su version. I can find nothing in the log files - any ideas?

EDIT - Sorry, I should have said what I’m running it on. It’s a Samsung RV511, with an intel i5 & 6gb memory.

this might work, but it might not (read the sig caveat)

logged in as yourself, with all konsoles closed and using Dolphin (or
your favorite file manager, as yourself (NOT root) nav to
/home/[yourID]/.kde4/share/config and locate konsolerc, then right
click on it and select “Rename” and name it “konsolercBroken”

i think the next time you click to open a konsole the system will
generate a new (default, and therefore working) ‘konsolerc’ in your
/home/[yourID]/.kde4/share/config

then you can, if you wish, try the customizations again.

Not quite right but you put me on track. It was home/[dmk]/.kde4/apps/konsole. I’d saved the colorscheme file as WP.5.1 (blue & yellow was the old WordPerfect 5.1 default)

I changed shell.profile from

[Appearance]
ColorScheme=WP.5.1
Font=DEC Terminal,11,-1,5,75,0,0,0,0,0

**to**

[Appearance]
ColorScheme=WP51
Font=DEC Terminal,11,-1,5,75,0,0,0,0,0

I then changed the name of the .colorscheme file from WP.5.1 to WP51 and clicked on Konsole - up it came!

I finally went: **Settings==> Edit Current Profile… **chose the Appearance tab, clicked on WP.5.1==> Edit… and changed the Description: from WP.5.1 to WP51 and OK==> OK - whether this last bit’s necessary I have no idea!

Thanks for the help!

PS: As far as the house burning down is concerned, my Wife tried that a couple of days ago (unsuccessfully I’m glad to report) - but if my computer starts to melt----
