Following patch and repo updates over the past week I have noticed some odd behaviour.
- Startup errors. During the startup process I noticed two ‘flashing red star’ reports with countdown timers, stating that “A start job is running”, firstly for ?modem? (I think) and secondly for Network Manager, and then the process halted at “Reached target Graphical Interface” and hung for over five minutes. Reading here I understood that failed NFS mounts may be implicated (though in the past these have failed nicely when unavailable). I edited them out in fstab and was able to boot and startup OK. But why?
- Konqueror will not exit nicely, the only option is to kill the process. I have no solution for this. Help appreciated.
I am using the following repos

Show repos with zypper lr -d
note the -d = details options
looks like you may have mixed repos but need to see full details
Windows 8+ has a fast start option which leaves the NTFS partitions dirty and unmountable turn this off or add nofail to the line in fstab that sets the mount
Thanks gogalthorp; output as requested:

This is an old system with many prior distro updates, so some alias outdated. Advice on correct priority settings would be helpful. Lacking knowledge, I left them as installed.
Windows 8+ has a fast start option which leaves the NTFS partitions dirty and unmountable turn this off or add nofail to the line in fstab that sets the mount
An OEM version of win7 is installed but is now never used, no win8.
A corrupted NTFS will also not mount so run checkdisk on it from windows
Try a different user see if the Konquer problem follows. could be corrupted configs in your home
You repos look all right just bad aliases Jitsi repo number 13 I don’t know it is possible you can get bad outdated packages from such repos.
No NTFS partitions specified to mount in fstab. Advice noted with thanks. Probably time to remove and recycle wasted space.

Shame(!) should have done this before posting. Created new user and found her Konqueror does exit nicely. Which config items do you suggest I remove from main user home?

Jitsi project (secure comms) is trusted but outdated packages possible. Thanks! Will review.
Seems solved. Thanks for taking time to help, gogalthorp.
Found a file “closeditems_saved.lock” in /home/USER1/.kde4/share/apps/konqueror, found a file “closeditems_saved” without .lock in USER2. Deleted USER1 file. Restarted Konq. File “closeditems_saved” was created. Konq now exits nicely. All seems good, so far.
I don’t know knoqurer never use it so do not have config files to check. should be somewhere in ~/.kde4 thughlooks for things that have knonqurer in the name
