Konqueror file associations

Using Konqueror version 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) “release 6” in Suse 11.2

I am trying to select Kaffeine as my default video player but when I remove some of the existing choices (SMPlayer for example) the changes are not saved. Same results if I do it as root.

When I look inside ~/kde4/share/config/konquerorrc no headers mention file associations. Where are the defaults stored?

Right click the video file - Properties
In that Box click the spanner icon
In the next Box highlight kaffeine and move up in the list to the top
apply.
